It is a common belief that women are born to suffer. Socially, sexually and economically they are exploited. Menstrual cycle, pregnancy, child birth and child rearing make them exhausted. Because of these problems and certain biological factors peculiar to women they are susceptible to and suffer from various types of mental disorders, such as depression, hysteria, puerperal psychosis etc.
Dr. C. R. Chandrashekar who has retired as Professor of Psychiatry at NIMHANS, is a recepient of the prestigious National Award for the Best Effort n Science Popularisation. He has authored more than 170 books and also edited around 100 titles on health, Personality Development etc. His books have been translated into various Indian Languages.
